Buckets & Borders - Fly Like An Eagle, St. Johns Park, Basketball Court Mural
From start to finish this mural was very gratifying and exciting to be a part of. Justin Lee, Co-founder of Buckets & Borders has been working with communities to revitalize their courts. When I saw the call for submissions to paint St. Johns Park court here in Winnipeg it was clear to me that I wanted to paint an eagle. The inspiration came from the movie Space Jam. Its the reason I became interested in basketball. The eagle is also a huge part of my spiritual identity.
Overall this was a community effort. many volunteers came to help paint during the hot days and the cold ones. In the end, to have my family and community present with an opening ceremony and unveiling was an experience I will never forget.
